At InputKit, our mission is to help you get as many responses as possible to your questionnaires. To achieve this, it’s essential that your emails land in the inbox — not in the spam folder. That’s why we use the sending address mail1.inputkit.io.
Why this address?
mail1.inputkit.io is a subdomain specifically configured for sending transactional emails via Mailgun, our secure email delivery service. This setup ensures:
Excellent deliverability
Fast and reliable sending
A clear separation between emails sent by your employees and those sent automatically via InputKit
What if I want replies to go to my own inbox?
Good news: you can customize the reply-to email address without affecting deliverability.
In your InputKit sequence settings, you’ll find a field called “Reply-to email address”. This allows you to enter a specific email (e.g., [email protected]) where replies will be directed — even though the original message was sent from mail1.inputkit.io.
What if I want emails to be sent directly from my domain?
In some cases, we can send emails from your own email address (e.g., [email protected]). However, this depends on the DMARC policy configured on your domain.
If your domain uses a strict DMARC policy (which is increasingly common), Mailgun is not authorized to send emails on your behalf — unless your domain is configured to explicitly allow it.
How to authorize sending from your domain?
In this case, our team can configure your domain in Mailgun using the format mg.yourdomain.com
.
Why "mg."?
The mg.
prefix is a convention used by Mailgun to clearly identify subdomains dedicated to email sending. This approach helps to:
Keep automated emails separate from your everyday business emails
Simplify DNS configuration
Avoid interference with your regular inbox services (e.g. Gmail, Outlook)
For example, if your domain is clinicabc.com
, we’ll set up mg.clinicabc.com
as a dedicated subdomain for InputKit’s automated messages.
Here’s how it works:
You provide us with your domain name (e.g.
yourdomain.com
)We add it to Mailgun using
mg.yourdomain.com
You receive a set of DNS records (TXT and CNAME)
You or your IT team must add them to your domain’s DNS configuration
Once validated, we can send emails from your domain while remaining DMARC-compliant
Note: This process does not affect any other services or email addresses in your organization. It applies only to emails sent automatically by InputKit.
